Diving in Dakar!

The diving in Dakar can be quite good, especially during the warm and rainy season (around May until October, though rain is not falling during this entire period).
Dakar is situated by the Atlantic ocean and the fauna is quite varied.
There are no corals though, around Dakar, there are Volcanic rocks.
Best diving would be close the two islands called ile's de Madeleine (Madeleine islands) as it is a Marine reserve and no fishing is allowed around these islands.
You can visit the bigger of these two islands, which are actually 2 big rocks in the middle of the ocean. At the larger of these islands there is actually a pool of water in the rocks, where the water is clear and calm. There are also a lot of birds on this island.
You can also dive from the beach of the village N'gor (just in front of the island of Ngor which I'll mention soon in another article.
The diving around this island (though quite shallow) can be quite good as well, there are lots of lobsters around here.

At N'gor beach you will find a PADI divecenter called Nautilus and there is another divecenter in town (very close to the Presidential Palace) and that one is called Oceanium. I have dived with both of them and they are both very good and professional.
